Working Equitation in Sweden
Working Equitation has been a part of the Swedish Equestrian Federation since 2009. As working equitation is rapidly growing in Sweden it has now become known as “the fastest growing discipline in Sweden”. In 2022 WE became the third largest discipline based on the number of contestants right after dressage and jumping. On average, 26 competitions were held per year between 2018-2021. In 2022, this number had grown to 43, and in 2023 the number has grown to nearly 60 Working Equitation competitions held in Sweden.
A few years ago, “The Riding School Cup” was introduced to the riding schools in Sweden, a concept that has grown to become very popular amongst riding schools teaching students about working equitation and how fun it is. During 2022 and 2023 nearly 30 riding schools has applied and completed The Riding School Cup per year.
Every year the Swedish Championships is held for seniors, as well as national championships for juniors, young riders, and seniors. Sweden has been represented at international championships since 2007.
For several years working equitation has also been invited to show the discipline through clinics at some of Sweden’s largest horse events, such as Falsterbo Horse Show and Sweden International Horse Show.
